Inspiration: The Makalu Chair is a celebration of the monumentality of the mountains and untouched nature, of geography and Brazilianness. Inspired by the essence of Makalu, one of the highest mountains in the world, the chair translates its majesty and mysterious beauty into a unique design.

Made from Black Storm granite, a natural Brazilian rock that reflects the geological richness of the state of Espírito Santo, the chair highlights the contrast between the deep black background and the white and gray veins that run across its surface, as if they were rivers and paths carved by time. The high-gloss polish intensifies the nuances of the material, reflecting the light dramatically and giving the chair a sculptural presence, almost as if it were alive.

Its design evokes the smooth lines of towering mountains, connecting the brute force of nature with the delicacy of contemporary design.

Concept: The Makalu Chair transcends functionality, positioning itself as a piece that unites art, design and the power of nature. Its fluid form, sculpted with precision, reveals the contrast between the tension of granite and the knowledge of its curves, challenging perceptions of solid materials.

The piece explores the richness of Brazilian materials and celebrates the encounter between advanced technology and precision craftsmanship. The mirror polish not only highlights the uniqueness of Makalu granite, but also gives the chair an aura of sophistication and exclusivity, ensuring that each piece is unique and unrepeatable.

The Makalu Chair reflects Tresore Design's commitment to innovation, sustainability and the timeless beauty of Brazilian natural stone.

Production process: The Makalu chair production process involves highly technical and creative steps that combine design, programming and the operation of advanced machines such as CNCs and single-wire machines.

A rough block of Makalu granite is carefully selected, taking into account the orientation of the veins, to maximize the visual impact of the final piece. The monowire machine comes into play to cut the block to the right dimensions, ensuring that the material is optimized for the machining process.

With the block prepared, the CNC executes the previously generated program. The process begins with initial roughing, where large volumes of material are removed, and progresses to the finishing stages, where smaller, more precise tools refine the details of the piece. During machining, constant water cooling is essential to prevent the tool from overheating and minimize micro-cracks in the rock.

After machining, the piece is removed from the machine for a manual polishing process, where curved surfaces and edges are given a shine, highlighting the veins and natural cores of Makalu granite. This finishing work gives the piece its unique identity and raises its quality.
