The sculptural delicacy of the Itaoca Armchair

Layers. From the infinite time of rock, the art of sculpting, craft techniques combined with technology and sustainability. From the past converted into experiences that garnish innovation. Sensitivity that subverts the rigidity of stone into the lightness of authorial design. Overlapping layers, in the composition of the whole that reveals the Itaoca Armchair. Developed exclusively by Estúdio Sérgio Matos for Tresore Design, the piece marks crossings between the purity extracted from nature and the creation that routes a new perspective and meaning under the guard of concreteness.

The concept of the Itaoca Armchair is based on the noble raw material embedded in Brazil's biodiversity and heritage. Itaoca, which in the indigenous Tupi language means "stone house" or "bored stone", incorporates into the design the translation of shelter and belonging; of welcome and comfort; of a dwelling place for the senses and sensations. A meeting of the beauty of soapstone (steatite) with the sophistication resulting from the computerized sculptural process. Hands and machines, talent and precision.

The minimalist lines that enhance the aged green stone express the refinement of the raw block transformed into delicacy. Specializing in conceptual products made from Brazilian natural stone, Tresore Design fuses art and technique in its careful execution of three-dimensional modelling and cutting with diamond cutters, until it achieves the excellence of the proposed shape in the final act of manual polishing. The sinuous aesthetic of the Itaoca Armchair enhances the soft stone with low porosity, high durability and resistance to stains and heat. Suitable for indoors and outdoors, it displays the poetic gesture of creation in its sculptural size.

Brazilian Furniture: innovative design and industrial capacity

Organicity is the soul of the Itaoca Armchair. It's in the rock with its millenary history, in the concept of nature that inspires and in the symbolism that skips edges to unveil subtleties and cultivate emotion. It pulses in the connection between the sensitive design of Estúdio Sérgio Matos and the polishing of advanced and sustainable techniques by Tresore, conforming to the precepts of the Brazilian Furniture Project, which promotes the integration of innovative design with industrial capacity.

An initiative of Abimóvel - the Brazilian Furniture Industry Association, in partnership with ApexBrasil - the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, Brazilian Furniture is now in its fourth Design + Industry cycle. A landmark on the national design scene, the project is a unique space for the Itaoca Armchair, which transcends aesthetics and function to be appreciated as a masterpiece.
